Concept

The “Fábrica de Histórias” educational program is an initiative designed to promote writing and the arts, developed in partnership with public and private educational institutions and integrated into the curriculum, and consists of a program in which students create a book with the assistance of teachers and facilitators from various technical and artistic fields.

Thus, by convening the book production process and aligning this process with a wide range of organizational and experiential aspects of the community, the student/author relationship with the same book is strengthened. At Fábrica de Histórias, all those involved are, directly and indirectly, promoters of reading.

The pretext was the book Brincar a Sério (Playing Seriously), through it, we traverse the line of production of the Fabrica de Historias, a project in which children are authors. What happens here is that book authors are also its characters: they talk about themselves when they enumerate definitions of play, it’s up to your jokes that the illustrations depict. (…) Getting here is the wish of any reading promotion project.

Migrations

More than just a book, *MIGRAÇÕES* is an artistic object that emerged from the creative process carried out during the 6th edition of Fábrica de Histórias. Conceived with support from DGARTES, it brings together texts and illustrations created by 811 students from the Alto Alentejo region, transforming their reflections on migration, identity, and the encounter between cultures into a collective work of artistic and literary expression.

Testimonies

Patrícia Costa, Colégio Atlântico

Participating in the Fábrica de Histórias was a truly challenging adventure, in which creativity, imagination and team spirit brought students of all valences together in an innovative and truly rewarding project.

Margarida Chambel, Pedro Arrupe College

A packed auditorium for a book presentation—which tells a story, written through the creative reflections of more than a hundred 5th-grade students and inspired by the motto that brings the entire school together each year— has proven to be the enthusiastic culmination of a journey that spanned an entire school year.

In this path of experiential learning, curiosity, creativity, effort, persistence, resilience and commitment are mobilized, students are challenged to reflect, give ideas, ponder alternatives and propose solutions, acquire skills, content and realize transversality of knowledge and expressions. Students learn. And they’re thrilled.

Joana Marto, Externato da Luz

The Fábrica de Histórias was for us the meaning that the very origin of the Latin word designates: a workshop where things are done and where we become artisans. It was the structure, the machine and the construction of a building with structures based on emotion and skills. It was the creator “place” where we thought, built and developed the raw material of our children, resulting in a happy product. Thank you, Cabeçudos!
